The major difference between young adults today and their parents and grandparents is the internet and smartphones. The internet has made it easier to acquire drugs and cellphones make it easier to communicate with those who distribute them. This combined with a large influx of drugs into the U.S. from places such as Mexico has caused rampant drug use among some members of this group.
How To Assist Young Adults Who Have Addictions
Young adults must learn that life will not change unless they’re willing to do so. They must also realize that life is not about fitting in but about being themselves and living life on their terms, not the terms of others. It is also essential for them to develop skills which are suitable to their natural talents which can be used to make a living. Perhaps one of the most valuable skills they can learn is the ability to manage stress and anxiety.
Life is full of pressure and many people choose to handle the stress by using controlled substances. But this is not the right solution, and the earlier a person learns this, the better off they will be. Regular exercise and maintaining a good diet, combined with other hobbies such as meditation or yoga, are a much better option in managing anxiety and stress and will make a young adult stronger both mentally and physically. The best treatment programs are those that help young adults get to the root of unresolved issues they have in their lives and cope with them in ways that allow them to be productive members of society while maintaining a fulfilling life.
